Owning your own business

I graduated from college with a BS degree in Economics with a minor in Computer Programming. With this combination of knowledge I was able to find a job  as  a programmer for a financial company in Santa Monica. It was a great job but when I got opportunity to buy a catering business, I left the finance firm after one year and started to run this catering business called House of Catering. I was always the type of person who liked to be busy. So the idea of working long hours didn't bother me. And I thought it was the best way to make lots of money. The Pros to owning a business: You have the chance (but not the guarantee) to make a lot more money than you can make working for someone else. You'll be your own boss and make the decisions that are crucial to your business' success or failure. You may be the boss of other people. You'll have job security: no one can fire you. Finding your First Job

For your first real job you will need to have your social security card and State Id or drivers license, to fill out the application. When you fill out the application you will be asked to fill out another form called the I9 (Employment Eligibility Verification), which will ask you if you are legally allowed to work in the United States. Your first job will most likely be working per hour. Currently the minimum wage in California is $8.00 per hour.  Underage work permit; Since you are under 18 years of age (a minor), many regulations apply to you. Typically, after an employer agrees to hire a minor, the minor obtains from his or her school a Department of Education form entitled " Statement of Intent to Employ Minor and Request for Work Permit ". The form must be completed by the minor and the employer and signed by the minor's parent or guardian and the employer.
